Ranks are overall positions by Pulse Score. Click a column to sort by what matters to you. Methodology.
What to look at first
- How it is priced. The common models are per resolved conversation, per conversation, per seat with an AI add-on, and monthly message credits. Per-resolution pricing ties cost to outcomes but makes spend harder to cap; credit plans are predictable but can run out. Each agent's page states the unit and the listed price.
- Where it plugs in. Some agents are part of a help desk suite; others sit on top of the help desk you already use. If you are happy with your current tools, the second kind is far less disruptive.
- What it can do beyond answering. Looking up an order, issuing a refund or updating an account requires integrations with your systems. Ask which actions are supported out of the box.
- Channels. Website chat is universal; email, voice, WhatsApp and in-app support vary.
About the numbers on this page
Most support agents are closed, sales-led products, so public usage data is thin. We show what is verifiable: site traffic rank, plugin installs where an official plugin exists, repository activity for open-source projects, and pricing as listed. Resolution rates quoted by vendors are marked as vendor claims; we have not tested them.
For technical support and developer products
If your users are developers, look at assistants built around documentation search, which answer from your docs, API reference and past tickets and can be embedded in a docs site, Slack or Discord.

Questions about customer support AI agents
How much does an AI customer support agent cost?
It depends on the pricing unit. Small-site tools sell monthly plans (listed entry prices in this category run from $19 to $450 a month), help desk suites charge per resolved conversation or per seat, and enterprise platforms quote custom contracts. The Price column shows the listed entry point for each product.
Which AI agent is best for support on a website?
For a small site, start with products that offer a website widget, a free tier or low entry price and a plugin for your platform. For a team already using a help desk, check whether that help desk has its own agent or which third-party agents integrate with it. Then run a trial on your real questions and measure how many it resolves without a person.
Are open-source support agents an option?
Yes. Several open-source help desks and chatbot builders can be self-hosted and connected to a model of your choice, which gives you control over data and cost in exchange for running the software yourself.
