What a review agent does
A review agent is installed as an app on GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket. When a pull request opens, it reads the diff together with the surrounding code, posts a summary and line comments, and often suggests a fix you can accept with one click. The better ones index the whole repository, so they catch problems the diff alone does not show, such as a changed function that is still called the old way elsewhere.
How to compare them
- Signal to noise. The main complaint about review bots is too many trivial comments. Look for configurable rules and severity filters, and judge on your own pull requests.
- Context. Repository-wide indexing finds cross-file bugs; diff-only review is cheaper but shallower.
- Where it runs. Some offer self-hosting or open-source versions for code that cannot leave your network.
- Pricing unit. Per developer seat, per credit or per review; the Price column shows the listed entry point.
