shallowEqual with useSelector in React Redux
A selector that builds a new object on every call makes useSelector see a change after every action. shallowEqual compares the fields instead, so the component only re-renders when a field changes.
How it works
- A selector that returns an object.
selectUserCardreturns a fresh{ name, role }object each time it runs. Both panels use this same selector. [1] - Reference check on dispatch. The
tickaction changes onlystate.ticks. The left panel uses the default comparison, so it re-renders on every tick. [1] - Pass shallowEqual. The right panel passes
shallowEqualas the second argument. Its render count only grows when you rename the user. [1]
Run and edit it
It runs in your browser, in a sandboxed frame that cannot see this site; the packages load from esm.sh only after you press Run.
