Open-Meteo
A JSON weather API that serves forecasts from 30+ national weather models plus hourly historical weather back to 1940, with sister APIs for air quality, marine, flood, elevation and geocoding.
You can pull a forecast or 80 years of hourly history for any coordinate with one plain URL and no sign-up, and the whole server is open source so you can run your own copy.

- Free api.open-meteo.com is non-commercial only (no ads or subscriptions); commercial apps need a paid plan or self-hosting.
- Show a link 'Weather data by Open-Meteo.com' next to every place the data is displayed (CC BY 4.0).
- Stay under 600 calls/min, 5,000/hour and 10,000/day per IP on the free API.
Paste into your agent: Read https://agentgid.com/resources/open-meteo/agent.md before using Open-Meteo.
What you can build
- A personal or non-profit 'should I cycle today' page that reads hourly rain, wind and temperature for the user's GPS position (free API, link to Open-Meteo shown).
- A climate-normals widget for a hobby gardening site: compare this month's temperature and rainfall with the 1940-to-now archive for the same location.
- A self-hosted Open-Meteo instance behind a commercial solar-yield or HVAC planning app, avoiding the free API's non-commercial limit while keeping the CC BY credit line.
