MET Norway Weather API
The free forecast API behind Yr: give it a latitude and longitude anywhere in the world and get a point forecast (temperature, wind, rain, cloud, UV, weather symbol) as JSON or legacy XML.
It is a national weather service's own production API, open to anyone worldwide without a key and licensed for commercial use, as long as your app identifies itself and caches politely.

For your agent
A request your code or agent can make with no key:
https://api.met.no/weatherapi/locationforecast/2.0/compact?lat=59.91&lon=10.75- Send a unique User-Agent (app name + site URL), round lat/lon to 4 decimals, use /compact for the common fields, and re-request only after the Expires header (send If-Modified-Since).
- Always send an identifying User-Agent (e.g. 'AgentGidBot/1.0 (+https://agentgid.com/about/)'); generic ones like okhttp or Java are blocked with 403.
- Credit 'MET Norway' as the data source (CC BY 4.0 / NLOD); do not use the name or logo of Yr.
- Cache responses, honour Expires/If-Modified-Since, round coordinates to 4 decimals, and stay under 20 requests/second in total; browsers and mobile apps should go through your own proxy.
Paste into your agent: Read https://agentgid.com/resources/met-norway-locationforecast/agent.md before using MET Norway Weather API.
What you can build
- A backend-cached forecast endpoint for a commercial outdoor-activity app (hiking, sailing) that fetches /compact once per location until Expires and serves many users from cache.
- A smart-home rule engine that closes awnings or delays irrigation when the next hours show wind or precipitation above a threshold.
- A static travel-site widget rebuilt hourly by a cron job, showing the 3-day forecast for each destination with a 'Data from MET Norway' credit.
