National Weather Service API (api.weather.gov)
The official US weather service API: forecasts for any US grid point, hourly forecasts, station observations and active watches and warnings, served as GeoJSON and other formats.
The same warnings and grid forecasts that US forecasters issue are available to any program for free, and the content is public domain.

For your agent
A request your code or agent can make with no key:
https://api.weather.gov/points/39.7456,-97.0892- Two steps: GET /points/{lat},{lon} to get the forecast and forecastHourly URLs for that grid cell, then GET those; send a unique User-Agent, and note coverage is the US and its territories only.
- Send an identifying User-Agent header on every request.
- Do not present NWS data as your own, imply NOAA/NWS endorsement, or show edited products as official warnings.
- On rate-limit errors back off a few seconds and retry; cache responses, the API is designed to be cache-friendly.
Paste into your agent: Read https://agentgid.com/resources/nws-api/agent.md before using National Weather Service API (api.weather.gov).
What you can build
- A severe-weather notifier that polls /alerts/active?area={state} and pushes new tornado, flood or heat warnings to a Discord or SMS channel.
- A US road-trip planner that looks up the 12-hour forecast periods for each overnight stop along a route.
- A farm or event dashboard that caches the hourly grid forecast for fixed sites and shows rain probability and wind for the next 7 days.
