Claude Code 2.1.318 released

A patch release fixing numerous issues with configuration handling, session management, MCP servers, and cloud sessions alongside several improvements.

What changed in 2.1.318

• Fixed configuration file updates failing on shared network home directories, causing sign-outs and dropped settings changes.
• Fixed --continue losing earlier conversation after tool call retries and macOS sessions stalling with many Bash commands.
• Fixed MCP servers being re-probed on every start and permission prompts being triggered by typing after messages.
• Fixed cloud sessions stopping mid-turn, API errors during replies, and variables not reaching the Bash tool in some cases.
• Added login expiration dates to claude auth status and claude -p output with warnings starting 10 days before expiry.

Check before you update

• Claude Code no longer installs or updates IDE extensions when started in an IDE terminal; use /ide from outside terminal or editor's extensions view.
• Thinking from conversations started on version 2.1.286 or earlier can now be dropped when resuming.
• Orchestrator log format changed: ok session=… now includes reason=… after jti=… and nack session=… ends with reason=… after retryable=….
