Munck Wilson Mandala cut M&A due diligence to a day with Harvey
Munck Wilson Mandala, a technology-focused mid-market law firm, uses Harvey for its most document-heavy work: M&A due diligence, banking litigation and IP discovery. On one diligence matter the team turned a set of contracts into a spreadsheet answering every diligence question in a day, work the managing partner says would otherwise have taken three associates a week and a half; Harvey reports accuracy above 90%.
The problem
The firm has nearly a hundred lawyers, roughly half with STEM degrees, and represents technology companies. Its work is document-intensive: diligence over large contract sets, loan files of 2,000 pages of unordered documents with duplicates in banking disputes, and technical discovery with timelines buried in file metadata. Done by hand, this meant printing, highlighting and building timelines over days, or staffing matters with many junior associates. The firm had first licensed a different AI provider, which it says could not keep pace, and moved to Harvey after an evaluation when that contract expired.
How they did it
- Start with one matter and a client who agrees to it; the firm's AI use policy says AI is used only with the client's knowledge and permission.
- Upload the matter's documents (the contracts for a deal, or a full loan file) to Harvey, using Vault for bulk M&A diligence sets.
- Write the diligence questions as prompts and refine them on a sample before the full run; the team spent half a day refining prompts.
- Ask Harvey to return the answers as an Excel spreadsheet, and add the questions you expect the client to ask as well.
- Check every answer against the cited source page; Harvey gives sentence-level citations that link to the underlying document.
- For litigation, ask for a timeline of the relevant documents instead of building it by hand, then verify each entry through the citations.
- Let associates use the tool to check their own drafts and ask what they missed before a partner reviews the work.
Results
- Diligence on one client's contracts done in a day instead of three associates working a week and a half, by the managing partner's estimate, as reported by Harvey.
- Accuracy above 90% on that diligence spreadsheet, as reported by Harvey.
- A banking dispute timeline from a 2,000-page loan file assembled in seconds; work that used to take days now takes a couple of hours, as reported by Harvey.
- An IP lawyer had 24 hours to work through unfamiliar technical discovery and produced a concise report, as reported by Harvey.
- Summer associate classes went from 11 associates to two or three, as reported by Harvey.
As reported by the source (Harvey customer story); AgentGid did not measure these figures.
This suits a small or mid-size firm with a lot of contract diligence and document-heavy litigation, and partners willing to check outputs line by line; the 90% accuracy figure also means up to one answer in ten still needs a lawyer's correction. It suits a solo practitioner with occasional review work less. Per AgentGid's Harvey page (pricing checked Oct 6, 2026), Harvey has no public pricing, is sold through sales and demos and has no free tier, so budget for a sales cycle before a pilot. All figures come from Harvey's own customer story and are estimates by the firm's lawyers, not measured independently; the page was first published in June and last updated in September 2026. The change in summer class size reflects the firm's staffing choices, not only the tool. If you want to try a legal AI workspace before talking to sales, Clio Work, listed on AgentGid as the closest alternative, has per-user plans billed monthly or annually with a free trial (checked Oct 6, 2026).
