Overview

Open Interpreter is now a Rust-based terminal coding agent, a fork of OpenAI's Codex CLI, tuned to get strong results from low-cost open models such as Kimi K3, DeepSeek, Qwen and GLM. The original Python 'let language models run code' project continues as a community-maintained fork.

Status: The project was rewritten in Rust as a Codex-based coding agent at openinterpreter/openinterpreter, while the original Python version (last PyPI release 2024-10-26) now lives on as the community fork endolith/open-interpreter.

The GitHub repository has 68.5K stars, 400 of them added in the last 30 days. The latest stable release is 0.0.55, published Sep 30, 2026; there were 6 stable releases in the past 30 days.
