Dsh Ops changelog: what's new each month
Every stable Dsh Ops release summarised by month: the highlights, new features, improvements, fixes and anything you need to act on. 1 month covered; the current month updates daily.
October 2026 · so far
13 releases: 0.2.0 → 0.4.1
October brought major architectural changes to Dsh Ops, including the removal of FastCtx and introduction of new activity tracking and UI components. The month saw expansion from Windows-only support to cross-platform availability and significant refinements to shell handling and file operations.
- FastCtx and background component removed; applications must migrate to new activity tracking and file operation patterns
- System shell fallback now defaults to disabled (allowSystemShellFallback: false); existing true settings auto-migrated on first startup
- Long scripts must now use opsbash.scriptpath instead of embedding in command JSON
- PTC-only components (opsbatch, opsresult) are opt-in and not published in normal/hybrid modes
Highlights
- Removed FastCtx dependency and background component in favor of a simplified architecture
- Expanded platform support to Linux x64 and macOS ARM64 in addition to Windows x64
- Added opt-in read-only OPS sidebar to the TUI with activity tracking and diagnostics
- Migrated file tools to an independent Rust worker with bounded operations and atomic replacements
- Fixed critical shell initialization issues on Windows and improved cross-platform consistency
New
- opsbash.scriptpath for long and multi-line scripts as alternative to embedding in JSON
- opsbatch component (PTC-only) for planned operations, copy/move/remove, protection, recovery and audit
- opsresult component (PTC-only) with bounded references, paging, filtering and projection
- Project-bounded OPS session activity tracking across all sessions
- Anomaly badges in TUI showing cross-session issues at a glance
- Focused filters and local activity pages for session inspection
- Native result diagnostics surfaced through the real DSH loop in TUI
- Cross-platform file operations with unified session working directory semantics
Improved
- Shell component now prioritizes opsbash with temporary PowerShell 7 specification for official pwsh-sandbox
- File and background components now share a single plugin-owned FastCtx connection
- Background component no longer publishes duplicate opsrun tools when enabled
- Prompt guidance updated to avoid heredocs, quotes and non-ASCII in JSON strings to reduce malformed responses
- Windows restricted Bash IPC initialization now creates verifiable private DLL copies without modifying global state
- Configuration migration for legacy shell fallback no longer remounts plugin to avoid conflicts
- Manifest and test suite validation expanded to 50 checks and 132 assertions
- Session-aware permission enforcement: read-only sessions reject modifications, workspace sessions limit writes, full permission unrestricted
Fixed
- Missing bash payload now returns concise actionable ENOENT diagnostic instead of raw spawn exception
- opsbash now rejects undeclared schema parameters before spawn instead of silently executing as foreground
- Windows PATH fallback now skips WSL launcher to prevent misrouting commands to WSL
- File lock race condition fixed: release validation compares device/inode to prevent orphaned locks and premature deletion
- Background job recovery fixed: ctx.inject properly binds jobs registry to tool definition instead of relying on identity comparison
- Cross-platform test suite convergence: manifest corrections and skip visibility fixes for Linux and macOS
