Overview
Anthropic's agent capability in the Claude apps for multi-step knowledge work: it breaks a goal into subtasks, uses local files, connectors and plugins, and returns finished files such as spreadsheets, slide decks and documents. Sessions can run in the cloud (beta) or on the desktop, and since September 2026 Cowork is built into every Claude conversation.
Status: On 2026-09-16 Anthropic began rolling out a unified Claude experience in which Cowork is available from any conversation ('Claude Cowork is now just Claude'), starting with Pro and Max plans.
