Squoosh
A browser app that compresses and resizes an image with modern codecs and shows a side-by-side before/after slider, all on your own device.
Dragging the slider between the original and an AVIF or WebP version shows exactly how much quality you trade for each kilobyte.

For your agent
No official API. An agent should not scrape the site: use it by hand.
- No web API; it is open source (Apache-2.0, github.com/GoogleChromeLabs/squoosh) and can be self-hosted as a static site. npm packages @squoosh/cli and @squoosh/lib exist but were last published in January 2023, so prefer maintained codec libraries for server pipelines. Images are processed locally; only analytics (sizes, visits) are sent.
- Keep the Apache-2.0 license and notices when you fork or redistribute the code
- Do not rely on the old @squoosh/cli or @squoosh/lib npm packages for new production pipelines without checking their state
Paste into your agent: Read https://agentgid.com/resources/squoosh/agent.md before using Squoosh.
What you can build
- A self-hosted copy of Squoosh on an internal domain for a design team
- A blog post or course page that embeds before/after comparisons made with Squoosh to teach image formats
- A fork that adds your company's preset sizes and formats for web uploads
