API docs and testing · by Routebase GmbH

Routebase

A hosted API-lifecycle tool built around one OpenAPI spec: a visual spec editor with branches and merge requests, mock servers, declarative test suites and OWASP API scans, published docs portals and uptime/contract monitors, all driven from the web app, a CLI, a REST API or an MCP server.

Docs, mocks and tests are generated from the same spec, so changing an endpoint once updates all of them instead of letting separate copies drift apart.

For your agent

  • Claude apps can add https://mcp.routebase.dev as a custom connector and sign in with OAuth; Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code use `npx routebase-mcp init` with a scoped API key; CI uses the .NET CLI (`dotnet tool install --global Routebase.Cli`) against https://api.routebase.dev; every site page has a Markdown twin (append .md).
  • Sold to businesses and freelancers only, not to consumers
  • Give agents a scoped API key with only the permissions they need
  • Free plan caps test runs and mock requests per month; check plan limits before scheduling suites

llms.txt: routebase.dev/llms.txt · MCP: https://mcp.routebase.dev (remote, OAuth 2.1) or stdio bridge via `npx routebase-mcp init`

What you can build

  • A CI pipeline that runs Routebase test suites and an OWASP scan on every pull request and fails on high findings
  • A mock server from a draft spec so a frontend team can build before the backend exists
  • An agent workflow that imports a Postman collection, turns it into OpenAPI and generates tests over MCP
