Steps

  1. Search The Met's Collection API (v1.1/search) for objects with images, then open each object record.
  2. Keep only objects marked isPublicDomain, and Rijksmuseum objects whose notice is public domain or CC0.
  3. Pick one a day, make web-sized copies with sharp, and write a short caption from the object's own fields.

Watch out

  • The Met lists works still under copyright too; use images only when isPublicDomain is true.
  • CC BY items from the Rijksmuseum need "Rijksmuseum" as credit; never imply either museum endorses your app.
