Excalidraw
A free in-browser whiteboard for quick hand-drawn-style diagrams and sketches, with live collaboration and export to PNG, SVG or its JSON scene format; the editor is also an MIT React component.
Diagrams look like napkin sketches, which makes architecture drawings feel friendly, and the scene file is plain JSON a program can generate.

For your agent
No official API. An agent should not scrape the site: use it by hand.
- Open source (MIT, github.com/excalidraw/excalidraw) with an official npm package @excalidraw/excalidraw (React component plus export helpers) and @excalidraw/mermaid-to-excalidraw; the repo ships a Dockerfile for self-hosting; there is no HTTP API, so generate .excalidraw JSON scenes or use the official MCP server.
- Keep the MIT copyright notice when bundling the editor code
- Embed the editor with the npm package rather than iframing excalidraw.com (the terms forbid unauthorized framing)
- Do not scrape the site
· MCP: https://mcp.excalidraw.com (repo: https://github.com/excalidraw/excalidraw-mcp, MIT)
Paste into your agent: Read https://agentgid.com/resources/excalidraw/agent.md before using Excalidraw.
What you can build
- A docs site that renders architecture diagrams from .excalidraw JSON files stored next to the code
- An 'explain this system' agent tool that turns a Mermaid diagram into an editable Excalidraw scene
- An in-app whiteboard for a SaaS product using the MIT React component
