Connected Papers
A web tool that takes one paper and draws a graph of related papers grouped by similarity, so you can see earlier and later work in a field.
Starting from a single paper you get a map of its neighbourhood, which quickly shows the key works you missed.

For your agent
- Official API is early-access only: token by e-mail to the maker, official Python SDK `connectedpapers-py` (MIT), papers keyed by Semantic Scholar SHA ids, default 5 graph builds per minute; price not published; no MCP server.
- Do not scrape the web app; use the API only with a token from the maker
- Commercial use of the web tool falls under the paid Business plan
Paste into your agent: Read https://agentgid.com/resources/connected-papers/agent.md before using Connected Papers.
What you can build
- A literature-review helper that, with an API token, fetches the graph for each seed paper and merges them
- A 'related work' panel that links a paper page to its Connected Papers graph

Semantic Scholar
You can walk the citation network of almost any paper in code, from a single lookup to a full snapshot of the whole graph.
API, no keyDownloadCommercial: conditions
Elicit
It does the dull part of a literature review, screening and pulling numbers out of papers, and shows the source for every claim.
API (paid)Commercial: conditions
Consensus
For a yes/no question it shows how the studies split, which says more than any single paper.

SciSpace
You can upload a dense paper and ask it plain questions, with each answer pointing back to the paragraph it came from.
