20 Claude Code Plugins 'Anthropic Just Dropped': Not From Anthropic, Checked
A viral post says Anthropic dropped 20 Claude Code plugins worth $29,077. We checked all 20 GitHub repos: community projects, none in Anthropic's directory, the price tag is the post’s own arithmetic, one is not open source, and the stars mostly hold.
On October 25, 2026 @choopyplug1 posted that "Anthropic just dropped a goldmine" of 20 Claude Code plugins: $29,077 worth of tools, 970 skills and 273 agents, 1.8M GitHub stars combined, picked from 68,900 repos tagged claude-code. The list covers memory, token savings, code maps, design, video and even job hunting.
We opened all twenty repositories, their READMEs and license files, and compared the post's numbers with GitHub's API and Anthropic's own plugin directory. Every link leads to a real, official repository. None of them belongs to Anthropic, the dollar figure is the post’s own arithmetic, and one of the twenty is not open source at all.

Anthropic did not drop these
The twenty repositories have twenty different owners: individual developers such as Addy Osmani (addyosmani) and rUv (ruvnet), and small companies such as Graphify Labs, rtk-ai and Headroom Labs. Anthropic released none of them, and none of them came out together; the oldest, Ruflo, was created in June 2025 and the newest, video-shotcraft, in July 2026.
Anthropic does run its own plugin directory, anthropics/claude-plugins-official, which Claude Code adds for you on first start. It holds plugins written by Anthropic and third-party plugins from partners and the community. When we searched its marketplace file on October 27, none of the twenty repositories in the post was listed there. Even for the plugins it does list, its README warns that Anthropic does not control what MCP servers, files or other software a plugin contains, and asks you to trust a plugin before installing it.
So the honest headline is "20 popular community projects for Claude Code", which is still a useful list.

Licenses, stars and releases from GitHub's API and each repository's license file, read October 27, 2026. The post links ECC under its old name, everything-claude-code; GitHub now serves the repository as affaan-m/ECC.
All twenty were pushed to in October, so none is abandoned. Two have gone quiet on releases: Understand-Anything has not published one since July 10, and context-mode's last release is from June 29, although its code was still being updated on October 27.
The post's numbers, checked
- The $29,077 is arithmetic, not a market value. By our calculation, 970 skills at $19 plus 273 agents at $39 gives exactly $29,077. The post does not name the "paid marketplaces" behind those two prices, and nobody would buy hundreds of overlapping skills one by one, so the figure says nothing about what the repos are worth to you.
- The 970 skills and 273 agents come from five repos. By our calculation, 970 is the sum of the skill counts the post gives for ECC (311), agent-skills (25), agents (185), pm-skills (69) and claude-skills (380), and 273 is ECC's 71 agents plus the 202 in wshobson/agents. The counts themselves check out: ECC's README lists 71 agents, 311 skills and 97 legacy command shims, and wshobson/agents lists 202 agents, 185 skills and 105 commands in 94 plugins. claude-skills has grown since and now reports 398 skills.
- 1.8M stars is fair. By our calculation the twenty repositories had 1,893,942 stars on October 27, so the post, if anything, rounds down.
- 68,900 repos tagged claude-code is out of date. GitHub's claude-code topic page listed 103,711 public repositories on October 27. By our calculation the post's figure is about two-thirds of that.
- The tool-level numbers are the projects' own. rtk's 60-90% token cut is as reported in its GitHub description; Headroom's description, as reported, promises 60-95% fewer tokens on JSON but 20% for coding agents in general, a smaller number the post leaves out. context-mode's 315 KB shrunk to 5.4 KB is, as reported, an example from its own README. ponytail's 53% less code and 45% fewer tokens come, as reported, from the author's benchmark in Claude Code: 39 tasks, Opus 5.5, 5 runs each, with and without the skill. The post is right to call it "its own" benchmark.
Stars across the twenty
ponytail is the newest big name on the list: created on June 12, 2026, it had 67,947 stars by the end of June, with 8,681 on June 16 alone, and is now second only to ECC.
What to watch for
- context-mode is not open source. GitHub shows no standard license for it because it uses the Elastic License 2.0, which its README calls source-available: you may use, fork, change and share it, but not offer it as a hosted or managed service. Fine for your own Claude Code; check it before building a product on it.
- Some are not Claude Code plugins. cc-switch is a desktop app for switching providers and managing MCP servers and skills across Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and other agents. Agent-Reach is a CLI, rtk a single Rust binary, and Headroom a library, proxy and MCP server. Most of the twenty also install in Codex, Cursor or Gemini CLI.
- cc-switch's sponsors are API relays. Its README promotes several third-party relay services that resell Claude Code, Codex and Gemini access at a discount. If you point Claude Code at one, your prompts and code pass through that company instead of going straight to Anthropic.
- Agent-Reach reaches behind logins. It reads Twitter, Reddit, YouTube, GitHub, Bilibili and XiaoHongShu from one CLI, and its README, mostly in Chinese, says it covers features that need an account. Reading a platform through your own login can break that platform's terms, so check them first.
- video-shotcraft renders with Remotion. The skill is Apache-2.0, but Remotion is free only for individuals, non-profits and companies with up to 3 employees; larger companies need a paid license. Our motion design guide covers more video skills for Claude Code.
- Free code, paid extras. claude-mem's hosted CMEM Pro costs $30 a month after a 30-day trial and Graphify Cloud's Pro plan $10 a month billed annually, both per AgentGid's catalog; the open-source parts stay free. Every plugin also runs on the Claude plan or API key you already pay for.
What the post gets right, and what it leaves out
Right: the links are official, the descriptions are short but fair, and the counts it quotes for ECC, agents, pm-skills and ponytail match the repositories. career-ops really does stop before sending: its README says it drafts every answer and you press Submit yourself. The closing advice is the best part of the post: start with three, run the same task before and after, and remember that every plugin adds to the context.
Left out:
- Anthropic made none of these, and none is in Anthropic's official plugin directory.
- The $29,077 is the post's own multiplication, and 68,900 understates today's claude-code topic by about a third.
- context-mode is source-available, not open source, and video-shotcraft depends on Remotion's license.
- Plugins run code. Anthropic's docs say a plugin can run hooks and MCP servers and ask you to read what it installs before you confirm.
AgentGid's data
Ten of the twenty have their own page on AgentGid, most of them in our agent tooling category. Gid Score ranks them by adoption and attention, not quality:
- Graphify: #49 of all tracked agents, with 483,431 weekly package downloads, up 6.6% over 30 days.
- Agent-Reach: #61 overall.
- Ruflo: #78 overall, with 51,763 weekly package downloads, up 25.2% over 30 days.
- Claude Mem: #193 overall, with 15,031 weekly package downloads.
- RTK: #231, Planning With Files: #254, Understand Anything: #255.
Stars and use are not the same: Graphify and claude-mem both have six-figure star counts, but by our calculation Graphify's weekly downloads are about 32 times claude-mem's. Claude Code itself is #2 of all agents we track, with 7,234,137 weekly package downloads. Browse more packs on our skills pages, and see our token-saving guide for the settings that cut costs before you add any plugin.
Where to start
Follow the post's own rule of three:
- Memory: planning-with-files if you want the plan in plain markdown files you can read, or claude-mem for automatic summaries between sessions.
- Tokens: RTK to shrink shell output, or Headroom for logs and JSON. Measure the difference on your own tasks.
- Your job: agent-skills for engineering workflow, pm-skills for product work, UI UX Pro Max or taste-skill for front-end design.
Add a community repo with /plugin marketplace add owner/repo, install from it with /plugin install, and open the plugin's details before you confirm: for plugins in Anthropic's official marketplace, Claude Code shows two token estimates of the context cost. For community repos like these, read the README and the hooks yourself.
The verdict
- Not from Anthropic. Twenty community projects, none in Anthropic's own directory. Judge each by its repo, not by the brand in the headline.
- The numbers are half right. The 1.8M stars and the per-repo counts hold; the $29,077 is invented and the 68,900 is stale.
- Mostly clean licenses. Nineteen are MIT or Apache-2.0; context-mode is source-available, and video-shotcraft brings Remotion's terms with it.
- Fewer is better. Three plugins you have measured beat twenty you have not.
