October 2026
13 releases: 0.1.3 → 0.2.7
October brought major features to OpenFilm including multi-project tabs, official skills and workflows, improved media management, and better agent integration across desktop and studio. The month saw steady improvements to rendering, playback, export workflows, and chat interactions.
Highlights
- Multi-project tabs now keep each open project accessible in Studio's top bar with their own workspace.
- Nine official skills and multiple workflow templates (long-to-short, screen-demo, motion-graphics, presenter-pip) and styles (whiteboard, vintage-film, lyric-video, keynote) added for common editing tasks.
- Desktop app agents now support running your own API keys with multiple models, Claude Code integration, and improved chat interactions.
- New personal media library synced across all projects, accessible via bookmark button in the media pane.
- Hardware-accelerated video decoding now works across all systems using VideoToolbox (Mac), Direct3D 11 (Windows), and VA-API (Linux).
New
- openfilm capture command takes screenshots of live web pages in OpenFilm's browser without additional tools.
- Replicate skill lets agents create videos matching a given video's structure, rhythm, look and motion with your own content.
- Component properties allow page clip layers to be marked as editable properties accessible in the Properties panel.
- Agent-specific MCP servers can be individually enabled or disabled in Settings → Agents.
- Decimal frame rates (23.976, 29.97, 59.94) now supported in render command.
- DeepSeek Harness added as available agent for desktop chat.
- Keenable added for web search and page reading in Settings › Providers.
- Light viewer opens pictures clicked in chat, showing them at full size with dimmed background.
Improved
- Exact frame rendering now uses ffprobe to determine correct video frame duration and display.
- Video decoding optimized for files with distant keyframes; fast seeking added before rendering.
- Export tray repositioned in desktop app from under chat to beside it for better visibility.
- Provider error messages now display inline under their own field rather than at list bottom.
- Agent background task continuity improved; conversations maintain state across restarts and reloads.
- Studio no longer redraws film when agent writes files that pages don't load.
- Chat now accepts multiple files and folders in single message drag-and-drop.
- Speed-adjusted sound plays naturally with pitch preservation in the audio mix.
Fixed
- Windows: stopped ffmpeg processes (from cancelled renders/exports) now end cleanly with real ffmpeg.
- Desktop app update notification moved to top bar beside projects button instead of hidden chat.
- Azure Speech key validation now displays error message under field instead of refusing silently.
- Studio: imported files to non-existent folders now all land correctly instead of some being refused.
- Studio: url() with unclosed quote in style changes no longer stalls the editor.
- ProRes 4444 transparency now renders correctly with updated FFmpeg versions.
