# Ambient sound from live Wikipedia edits

A web page that plays a soft note for every Wikipedia edit happening now, like Listen to Wikipedia, built on the public edit stream.

## Parts

- Data: [Wikipedia](https://agentgid.com/resources/wikipedia/agent.md): The free encyclopedia plus a family of public APIs (Action API, REST API, pageviews, live edit stream) and monthly full database dumps of every Wikimedia wiki.
- Data: [Listen to Wikipedia](https://agentgid.com/resources/listen-to-wikipedia/agent.md): A live sound-and-bubble view of Wikipedia edits as they happen: added text rings a bell, removed text plucks a string, and bigger edits play deeper notes.
- Sound in the browser: [Tone.js](https://agentgid.com/tools/tone/agent.md)
- Or simple audio playback: [howler.js](https://agentgid.com/tools/howler/agent.md)

## Steps

1. Open the Wikimedia recent-changes event stream from the browser.
2. Map the size of each edit to pitch and additions or removals to two instruments.
3. Draw a bubble with the article title, linking to the edit.
