# A live globe of today's earthquakes

A spinning 3D globe on your site that draws every earthquake of the last day, sized by magnitude, straight from the USGS feed.

## Parts

- Data: [USGS Latest Earthquakes](https://agentgid.com/resources/usgs-earthquakes/agent.md): The US government's live map and catalog of earthquakes worldwide, with minute-by-minute GeoJSON feeds and a searchable query API.
- 3D globe: [three-globe](https://agentgid.com/tools/three-globe/agent.md)
- 3D engine: [Three.js](https://agentgid.com/tools/three/agent.md)
- Or a flat map: [MapLibre GL JS](https://agentgid.com/tools/maplibre-gl/agent.md)

## Steps

1. Fetch the day's summary GeoJSON in the browser; it needs no key.
2. Map each feature's coordinates to a point on the globe and its magnitude to the point's size and colour.
3. Refresh the layer every few minutes and show the time of the last update.
